The Administration of Justice Meeting - EnAJUS 2020 is the third edition of scientific event that aims to discuss, based on evidence, the distinct theoretical dimensions, methodological and practices that make up the functioning of justice. It is an initiative to bring together different fields of knowledge, such as law, economics, sociology and public administration, in order to generate and disseminate knowledge that can improve the levels of efficiency and effectiveness of justice. This action is particularly important for the Brazilian Justice, recognized as expensive, congested, slow and ineffective.

Administration of Justice is a topic of high social and political relevance, but little studied in Brazil. The administration of justice involves the coordinated and articulate use of resources, knowledge, people, rules and laws to resolve conflicts between individuals, groups and organizations. Consequently, a well-administered justice system is a civilizing feature of society and contributes to social peace and social and economic development in the country. Such a system can also foster social relationships based on ethical and moral values and principles, including respect for the laws and rules governing such relationships, and recognition of the rights of social groups and individuals.

The concept of the justice system involves the functioning of judicial organizations, such as the courts, and other institutions essential to justice, such as the Public Prosecutor's Office, Public Advocacy, Advocacy, Public Defenders, administrative courts, notaries and public security bodies, including relations between justice system organizations and organizations from other systems, such as political, governmental, market and civil society organizations. As a field of research, the Administration of Justice comprises multiple theories and research methods aimed at investigating the management of the justice system at different levels of analysis. It deals with the relationship between administration and the provision of justice in a given social context, employing multiple conceptual and methodological perspectives.

The 2018 and 2019 editions of EnAJUS, held in Brasilia-Brazil, resulted from the cooperative work of the Justice Administration (AJUS) research group, the Graduate Program in Administration, and professors from the Graduate Program in Law , both from the University of Brasilia, the Center for Administration and Public Policy (CAPP) of the University of Lisbon, and the Brazilian Institute of Social Studies and Research (IBEPES). In the 2020 edition, two important new players join this team: the Positivo University, through its graduate programs in Administration and Law, and the Directorate-General for Justice Policy of the Portuguese Ministry of Justice. It is, therefore, a rapidly consolidating event that extends its borders beyond the sea. In each of the previous editions, the event brought together approximately 120 participants, including teachers, researchers, technicians, public managers and policy makers, law operators, undergraduate and graduate students.

In addition to the sessions aimed at presenting papers and thematic panels, EnAJUS 2020 will also have short courses focused on research methods and techniques, which aim to offer training opportunities to individuals interested in expanding knowledge about Justice Administration research, supported by data and evidence.
